La mostra nasce all’interno del gemellaggio tra la città di Reggio Emilia e Fort Worth che quest’anno compie 40° anni. Negli anni la collaborazione tra le due città è stata caratterizzata da un forte ingaggio giovanile con scambi e attività in diversi ambiti tra cui quello culturale, artistico e sportivo.
Il progetto fotografico è promosso da Fondazione E35 e Fort Worth Sister Cities, e curato da Ting Huang, MFA, Direttore del Dipartimento di Arte della Comunicazione, Professore Associato di Fotografia presso la Tarrant County College Fort Worth, Texas.
Gli studenti, i docenti e il personale del Dipartimento di Fotografia del Tarrant County College di Fort Worth, in Texas, insieme ai distretti circostanti, hanno esplorato il significato di avere vent’anni. Per alcuni, avere vent’anni significa sfide e trasformazione; per altri, i vent’anni sono sinonimo di amore e divertimento! Una studentessa descrive il proprio lavoro come “a memorial and an expression of faith”. Un’altra descrive uno splendido scenario in cui si imbatte nel downtown di Fort Worth, dove il tempo si è fermato e il domani è un altro giorno.
Il nostro passato, presente e futuro collettivi sono racchiusi in queste fotografie. La schiettezza di queste immagini costruisce ponti di amicizia tra artisti e spettatori. Così come le città gemelle, Reggio Emilia e Fort Worth, questa mostra ci connette attraverso l’umanità.
The idea of the exhibition was born within the twinning between the city of Reggio Emilia and Fort Worth, a relationship that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Over the years, the collaboration between the two cities has been marked by a strong youth engagement through exchanges and activities in various fields, including culture, art, and sports.
The photography project is promoted by the E35 Foundation and Fort Worth Sister Cities, and curated by Ting Huang, MFA, Department Chair of Communication Arts, Associate Professor of Photography, Tarrant County College District Fort Worth, Texas.
The Photography Department students, faculty and staff at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas and its surrounding cities explore what it means to be twenty. For some, twenty years represent challenge and transformation; for some, the Big Twenty is all about love and fun! One student describes her work as “a memorial and an expression of faith”. Another describes a beautiful scenery she happens upon in downtown Fort Worth where time stands still, and tomorrow is another day. Our collective past, present and future are encapsulated in these photographs. The honesty in these images build bridges of friendship between the artists and the viewers.
Like the sister cities, Reggio Emilia and Fort Worth, this exhibition connects us through humanity.
